The Bean Thief

Brunch at the Bean Thief today!
This little cafe is in Kew East opposite officeworks.
The front of the cafe has window seats and even a church pew! There is a fabulous feature brick wall and giant light features. It is quirky and I love it.
There is also seating out the back, inside and outside, so grab a table wherever tickles your fancy.

I've always enjoyed the coffee here, so thumbs up

I ordered a veggie breakfast - two poached eggs on toast, tomato, spinach, mushrooms and smashed avocado. It looked amazing!

The spinch was a little chewy and the veggies were all a little tasteless, but the eggs definately made up for that. They were golden and perfectly cooked, and while the bread was a little tough to cut through, it was delicious, full of grains and seeds, yum!

The staff were attentive and over all it is a lovely little place.

I give it 31/2 stars

Aura cafe

Here I am at Aura cafe in the suburb of Lower Templestowe.
It's a part of a medical building that includes doctors, physio, xrays, chemist, I could go on.
So if you do have an appointment somewhere in the building its a good place for a coffee, but you don't need a medical certificate to sit down, all are welcome. They have seating inside and outside with both chair and bench seating.

It's table service and I've always found the staff friendly and welcoming.
They have a breakfast and lunch menu, and on weekends an all day breakfast menu.
While I'm a fan of all day breakfast every day, they still have a brunch item on their lunch menu.

Today I ordered Eggs Florentine and it was an impressive sight!
The poached eggs were perfect and there was a mountain of spinach, yum!
They sprinkled a little spring onion for garnish, and I'll admit, I wasn't a fan of the flavour with my eggs, but that's just personal preference.
The hollandaise sauce didn't have the creamy texture I adore and didn't have enough flavour for my liking, however it was still well made. The bread was fluffy and light and easy to cut, so overall it was a good meal.

The coffee is very good and has never disappointed.

If you come by and don't fancy breakfast (which is a rare occurrence in my experience), try the roast vegetable salad - AMAZING!

I give it 31/2 stars

Great Ideas for Home cooked Brunch

I actually got this idea from a pic I saw on instagram and I couldn't resist giving it a whirl!
I lightly toasted some multigrain bread and then used a cookie cutter to cut out the middle.
Then in a frying pan I placed my bread and cooked an egg in the middle for about 2mintues. I also put the middle of the bread back in the pan to toast some more.
I also sauteed some tomato and spinach and let 1/2 an avocado warm up in the pan.
And what's brunch without a cuppa to wash it down!
Super quick, super easy, super yum!

Give it a go and let me now what you think :)
